Itinerary
6 Days Rwanda Discovery
Explore Rwanda, the land of a thousand hills on our 6 Days Rwanda Discovery Safari. Visit Akagera National Park for a wildlife view and game drive safari, including a boat trip at Lake Ihema and Hike famous Mount Bisoke in Volcanoes National Park and later have a boat ride in Lake Kivu.
Day 1: Airport arrival at Kigali
You begin your magical holiday as you board your fight to Rwanda, a country of a thousand hills. On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by Rwanda Eco Company Tours and Travel who will transfer you to your hotel. Depending on arrival time you can do a city tour, in which you can visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre and the old city of Kigali. Overnight and dinner at Serena hotel (Luxury hotel), or Hotel des Mille Collines (Midrange hotel) or Quiet Haven Hotel (Budget facility). Meal plan: Lunch & dinner.
Day 2: Kigali to Akagera National Park.
After the breakfast by 5am, we head to the impressive Akagera National Park, comprised of a blend of wetland, savannah grassland and woodland. The location of the park shows that it lies at a lower altitude as compared to the rest of the country, therefore meaning that it is not only warmer but drier. Some of the wildlife you will see here include Giraffes, Buffaloes, and Elephants as well as a profusion of birds. On reaching the park, we shall head for a full-day game drive in search of the wildlife in the park, and if fortunate, we may be able to see the Shoebill Stork, especially around the shores of the lakes. Overnight and dinner at Ruzizi Tented Camp (Luxury Lodge) or Akagera Game Lodge (Midrange hotel). Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch & dinner.
Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park.
Early morning at 8:00 am go for a boat trip at Lake Ihema to see crocodiles and hippos, as well as sighting several bird species. After we leave for Volcanoes National Park from Akagera National Park. Enjoy the winding roads and scenery along the way to the north with a stopover in Kigali to have lunch as we proceed (approximately 5 hours’ drive), Overnight, and dinner at Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel (High end), or Le Bamboo Gorilla Lodge (Midrange lodge) or Muhabura hotel (Budget facility). Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch & dinner.
Day 4: Climbing the Volcano Bisoke.
Early in the morning, you will receive a briefing from the park ranger at RDB Office, before heading for your hiking adventure. Start the climb; you climb to the top of Bisoke volcano and look on her beautiful Crater Lake and back to Musanze. The hike takes roughly 5, 6 or 7 hours depending on how fast your group is on hiking experience. Overnight and dinner at Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel (High end), or Le Bamboo Gorilla Lodge (Midrange lodge) or Muhabura hotel (Budget facility). Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch & dinner
Day 5: Cultural Community.
In the morning after breakfast, visit the Iby’ iwacu cultural village to enjoy their different performances and explore more about their unique culture after we head to the Red Rocks to see the banana beer production. In the afternoon you will be transferred to Kivu Lake for relaxing at the beach. Overnight and dinner at Serena Hotel (luxury), Lake Kivu Waterfront Resort (Midrange Hotel), or Discover Hostel, Gisenyi (Budget facility). Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch & dinner
Day 6: Transfer to Kigali to the airport.
After breakfast, enjoy a boat ride on Lake Kivu to the different islands and bird species on the lake and later embark on a drive to Kigali, if time permits, visit Kigali genocide memorial ground before being transferred to the airport for your departure flight. Meal plan: Breakfast, & Lunch.
